Children's Literature That Promotes Brown Girls in STEM
3 days ago I started a Kickstarter for a Children’s book I wrote. Not only do I already have 10% of my goal funded but Kickstarter just selected my book as a PROJECT WE LOVE!! My project is now one of only 20 other Kickstarters in the Children’s book section out of 10,606 other projects that have been selected for this honor. This means that this project will be promoted across Kickstarter and it is also one of the first ones you see when you go to the site.

I’ve always wanted to write Children’s books and I’m so glad this is being received so well. This book in particular is very close to my heart because it’s so relatable to me as a woman of color. Books like these also empower future women which is what my brand (Liz Fe Lifestyle) is all about.

What’s the book about?
A picture book about a young brown girl’s dreams of being the best astronomer and her dreams of one day discovering a new planet.
What’s the purpose of this book?
To create children’s literature that promotes brown girls in STEM. Right now women of color make up less than half of the number of people working in STEM. Getting brown girls interested in STEM at a young age is an important factor in this.
